COLONEL JAMES L WEHRLI

Colonel James L. Wehrli is the Vice Wing Commander for the 190th Air Refueling Wing, Forbes Field Air National Guard Base, Topeka, Kansas. The Wing operates and maintains a fleet of 12 KC-135R aircraft and is comprised of 980 military members including Joint Force Headquarters (KS) Staff. The 190th provides rapid global mobility airpower and deploys expeditionary forces in support of worldwide combat, contingency and humanitarian operations in addition to maintaining a nuclear deterrence tasking. The Wing also supports the State of Kansas and the Nation in times of disaster and domestic emergency response

Colonel Wehrli enlisted in the 190th Air Refueling Group in 1984 as a Military Pay Specialist. He later earned his commission in 2001 through the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science. Prior to assuming his duties as Mission Support Group Commander, Colonel Wehrli was a career Financial Management Specialist, serving in a variety of capacities including Financial Superintendent, Budget Analyst, Budget Officer, and Comptroller. In addition, due to his expertise in Air National Guard Financial Management operations he was selected to serve on the Air National Guard Comptroller Advisor Board, providing advice and counsel to 90 Air National Guard Flying Wings and the Air National Guard Readiness Center.
