Lt Col Penny Lynn Jamvold is the Force Support Commander, 190th Air Refueling Wing, Forbes Field, Kansas. Responsible for the morale, readiness, training, safety and effectiveness of 54 airmen and five civilian employees, Lt Col Jamvold directs the mission and operations of Manpower, Personnel, Base Training, Formal Schools, Fitness, Dining, Mortuary Affairs, and Family Programs; this includes managing a budget of over nine hundred thousand dollars.
Lt Col Jamvold was born and raised in Denton, Kansas and currently resides with her family in Maple Hill, Kansas. She enlisted in the Kansas Air National Guard in December 1996 as an Aerospace Control and Warning Systems Operator with the 134th Air Control Squadron, McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas. In June of 2005 she earned a commission from the Academy of Military Science, McGhee Tyson AFB and transferred to the 190th Air Refueling Wing as a Logistics Readiness Officer. There she progressed into the role of Active Guard and Reserve Installation Deployment Officer and then Logistics Readiness Squadron Operations Officer, playing a key role in Domestic Operations during both assignments. In 2017 Lt Col Jamvold transferred back to the 184th Intelligence Wing where she served as the Logistics Readiness Squadron Commander for two years before returning to the 190th Air Refueling Wing as Wing Inspector General until selected for her current assignment.
Lt Col Jamvold deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan in 2003 in support of OPERATION NOBLE EAGLE where she ran radar surveillance operations. In 2011 she returned to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, serving under the Joint Combined Security Transition Command, NATO Training Mission. During this assignment, Lt Col Jamvold managed $600M in Foreign Military Sales cases and executed over $23M in contracts, all designed to aid in the training and
development of an Afghan government, and police and military forces.
