FORBES FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Topeka, Kan. -- The 190th Air Refueling Wing is planning to release a new base app just in time for September’s drill.
It is designed to promote communication, interaction and entertainment for Airmen, while also providing important base information. The app will feature helpful tools such as news, PT calculators, notifications, references, phone directories and recruiting.
“The release of this app is very exciting,” said Lt. Col. Tanya Wehrli, 190th ARW Executive Staff Officer. “Our Airmen will soon have immediate access to real time information, allowing them to stay informed throughout the month. It will also be valuable to family, friends, potential recruits, and anyone who has an interest in the 190th. I have no doubt this is the first of many innovative steps we will take as we continue to expand Airman care.”
This app will be especially helpful for traditional guardsmen who typically miss out on base-wide emails or notifications, said Staff Sgt. Shawn Allen, 190th Medical Group medic.
“I’m very excited for the app,” Allen said. “I’m a traditional member so it will be helpful to know what’s going on and coming up with our unit.”
In future updates, there will be a built-in messaging system where units or offices may request their own private message board for roll calls, logistics, chatting, or any other messaging needs.
The app will be available for download on both Apple and Android devices.
